FinnWars Final Extended - installation

In most cases, installation of FinnWars is succesful without any hassle. Sometimes, however, something can go wrong, thus causing problems.

This guide is pretty simple, but it should help. If it does not, reply to this thread or join #finnwars on Quakenet.

I assume that Battlefield1942 has not been installed. If it is installed you may have to re-install it to follow the guide.

Things to note:
-Finnwars has a bundled singleplayer-minimod. It can be activated in the Custom Game -menu.
-The All Seeing Eye is a good program for searching FW-servers. It's downloadable at http://www.udpsoft.com/eye .
-Remember to allow PunkBuster before playing. If you have problems updating PB, check this


Step 1) Install Battlefield 1942.

Step 2) Download & install the Battlefield1942 1.6 patch. You can get it here: http://www.fz.se/filer/?id=1040
Be sure to install PunkBuster which comes with this packet!

Note: Some BF42-boxes (for example BF42:Anthology and BF42:Deluxe) are already version 1.6. You can check your version of the game in the main menu, in the lower left corner of the screen. There's no need to install same patch twice

Step 3) Download & install the Battlefield1942 1.6 -> 1.61 patch. You can get it here: http://www.fz.se/filer/?id=1042
Both patches are needed for Finnwars to work.

Step 4) Try your BF out on an internet-server (not LAN-server). If it goes OK, move on.

Step 4) If you have a previous version of FinnWars installed, remove it (remove the whole FinnWars-directory from the \battlefield42\Mods\). This will help avoiding a few bugs.

Step 6) Download & install FinnWars Final Extended with Patch. You can get it here: http://www.iceflakestudios.com/Storage/ ... _patch.exe

Run fw_final_extended_with_patch.exe. The installer should point automatically to the right folder (ie. where BF42 is installed).


Your FinnWars is now correctly installed. Have fun!

Troubleshooting:
Battlefield whines about "Wrong version" when I try to join a server.
You probably have wrong version of Battlefield. You need the 1.61 patch, which requires 1.6 to be installed first. Both are downloadable from links mentioned above. Note! 1.61 is a newer version than 1.619 (DICE's swedish logic).
PB kicks you off the server?
PB is sometimes unable to update itself, thus resulting in automated kicks from servers. Try updating PB.
